In Lviv, the court sentenced a man who was driving an electric scooter while intoxicated in the city center. For the violation, the man was ordered to pay a fine of UAH 17 thousand and was banned from driving any vehicle for a period of one year.
So let us remind you that according to the rules, the activities of users of electric scooters and gyroscooters in Ukraine must comply with the established traffic rules, similar to those for cyclists. This includes, among other things, the obligation to ride on the right side of the road and to wear a helmet while riding. The rules apply to all users without exception, regardless of whether the electric vehicle is owned or rented.
To ensure road safety on an electric scooter, it is important to follow the following rules:
- It is allowed to ride only on bicycle paths with a maximum speed of 20 kilometers per hour, as well as on sidewalks, while not exceeding a speed of 5 kilometers per hour. It is prohibited to ride a scooter on the roadway.
- It is prohibited to use a cell phone while operating the scooter.
- It is strictly forbidden to carry passengers on an electric scooter.
- It is important not to hold on to or cling to other vehicles while riding the scooter.
- It is forbidden to operate an electric scooter while under the influence of alcoholic beverages or drugs.
- The scooter must be in good condition, equipped with a sound device for signaling, and have reflectors for better visibility on the road.
Follow these safety rules to ensure the safety of your rides and always use only technically sound vehicles.
